A sixth-grade teacher has pleaded guilty to selling cocaine to an undercover federal agent.

Mark R. Gingras, who taught for four years at Silver Hills Elementary School in the Granite School District, was arrested in August 1990 after selling 10.3 grams of cocaine to an undercover agent at a Salt Lake apartment.He was suspended from his job after the arrest.

Moments before his trial was to begin Monday, Gingras, 36, pleaded guilty. Two felony charges of using the telephone to traffic in dope were dismissed. Gingras also acknowledged another 33-gram sale.

Gingras will be sentenced Jan. 21 by U.S. District Judge David Winder.
