The Governor's Commission for Women and Families has compiled a list of about 300 women who want to serve on government or private sector boards, commissions, task forces or other entities.
The list of women, known as the leadership registry, includes the names of actuaries, accountants, engineers, geologists, business owners, librarians, river runners, ranchers and other professionals.According to the commission, about 20 percent of all state appointees are female. A new state law requires that the "appointing authority shall strongly consider nominating, appointing or reappointing a qualified individual whose gender is in the minority on that entity."
For help filling vacancies with women, contact the commission at 538-1736 or at 1150 State Office Building, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114.
