I am a busy college student, and when it comes to watching television, I don't have a lot of time. The other night, I watched a few shows and what I saw both surprised and disgusted me. The moral values displayed on the shows were not the same as mine or the same as (what I thought) most Utahns. Chastity and family values were debased. The shows made light of things I feel are important and shouldn't be joked about.

I do realize that not every show on TV is this way. There are some good quality programs, but they are few. We, as television viewers, should take a stand for shows that are in better taste and quality and that also portray the values we want to see. From seeing the degradation depicted on television, it depresses me to think that values are going downhill in America. As for me, the next time I don't have something important to do, I won't waste my time watching TV. I'll find something better and more uplifting to do.
