Salt Lake Mayor Deedee Corradini apparently considers all golfers second-class citizens. She has mistreated ethnic minorities and low-income families by raising golf fees beyond their ability to pay.

She created a new company, calling it the Recreation Enterprise Fund, and eliminated our Golf Enterprise Fund in order to make our funds more accessible and open game. She claimed $484,000 of the golfers' bond fund money to pay off other recreational deficits, even after we showed here there was $551,000 available for just such an emergency. We explained that we needed 300 to 400 new golf carts. We needed to finish Mountain Dell's driving range. We needed maintenance money. We needed a new club house at Forest Dale. Our mayor ignored our needs but not our money, which she has taken and given to someone else.

Corradini, by placing the Golf Enterprise Fund into the sham Recreation Enterprise Fund, relieved taxpayers from subsidizing recreation. Her main objective was to fatten her new fund. She says golfers will continue to pay golf-user fee, golfers will pay for recreation user fees, golfers will pay the recreation deficit of $484,000. Golfers will pay for recreation's yearly deficit.

The mayor says her heart is in the right place, but her hands are in golfers' pockets.
