Barbra Streisand paid tribute to Anita Hill as both received 1992 Bill of Rights Awards from the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Southern California.
Streisand cited Hill's testimony last year before the Senate Judiciary Committee in which she accused then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment."We watched her and we saw ourselves sitting in that chair and we felt violated," Streisand told an audience of 1,500 gathered Friday night in Los Angeles.
"She was, at that point, whether she knew it or not, the finest example of women's collective courage," Streisand said.
Hill said her testimony motivated women nationwide to seek political power.
"It was evident that we were going to have to take it, that it was not going to be given to us," Hill said.
