In a break with Deseret News tradition, the newspaper's readers will be the final judges for the list of 1992's top 10 local stories.

The list, formerly compiled by the staff, is a year-end tradition at the Deseret News. This year, through the "Readers' Choice Top 10 News Stories Contest," readers will make the final decision. They also can qualify for a prize when they enter. It's easy to enter: Turn to the ballot printed on A10 of today's paper, mark your 10 choices for the top stories and then mail it, bring it or fax it to the Deseret News by Friday, Dec. 18. Photocopies of the ballot will not be accepted. Complete details and rules are printed with the ballot.

Readers who pick the top 10 news stories of 1992 as determined by fellow readers could win gift certificates to the ZCMI Center, a Brigham Young University football video or a University of Utah football video. The Deseret News will compare your list with a tally of all contest entrants. Winners and the list of winning stories will be printed in the Sunday, Dec. 27, newspaper.
