With wins over both BYU and Utah State tucked under their belts, what can the Weber State Wildcats do for an encore as the days of December grow short?
The 'Cats will try to keep their momentum going tonight when they host the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m in the Dee Events Center. For the T-Birds, it will culminate what has, so far, been a difficult five-day trip up north from Cedar City.Weber State, 4-1 following its victory over the Aggies Saturday night, is off to its best start in years, and a win tonight would give the Wildcats a perfect 3-0 record against in-state schools and, in all likelihood, return the Old Oquirrh Bucket to Ogden for the first time since 1985-86.
The Wildcats were paced by seniors Al Hamilton and Stan Rose in last week's victories over BYU and Utah State. For Southern Utah, a season that started promisingly enough with an upset of Montana in Missoula (ending a 31-game home win streak by the Grizzlies), then turned a bit sour with three straight losses to Grand Canyon, BYU and Santa Clara, can turn around again with an upset in Ogden tonight.
