Actor-director Bill Bixby says he's responding well to treatment for prostate cancer.

In the Jan. 2 issue of TV Guide, Bixby says he is being treated with an experimental drug to try to halt the spread of the cancer, which has reached his hipbone."The doctors say my body is responding beautifully to the drug," Bixby said.

But when he was first injected with the drug, the doctors and nurses surrounding him looked very worried.

"So I faked dying. Right there on the table," he said. "The doctors said, `Very funny, Bill. Don't do that again.' "
