In a move the company said is designed to more effectively project its retailing approach, Los Angeles-based Pic 'N' Save Corp. is continuing to change the names of its stores from Pic 'N' Save - including the four stores in the Salt Lake area - to Mac Frugal's Bargains - Closeouts.
Sixty-one stores, stretching from Texas east across the Sunbelt to Florida, have undergone the name change since fall.Over the next few months, the name change will become effective in 60 more stores in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico and northern and central California, the company said.
By June, two-thirds of the chain's 193 stores will be doing business as Mac Frugal's Bargains, a spokesman said
The stores in Southern California will continue to operate as Pic 'N' Save. The name change will also apply to the corporate name, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming annual meeting.
"It's just a new name," said Len Williams, president and chief executive officer. "We will continue to offer an ever-changing assortment of first-quality, name-brand merchandise at bargain prices."
