Lagging work at the Blackridge Ranch subdivision has Washington County officials considering calling in a developer's $100,000 road improvement bond.

County planners raised the possibility Tuesday night when developer Bruce Whited failed to appear before the Planning Commission regarding a permit for a rock-crushing operation. It was the second straight planners' meeting Whited had missed. In accordance with county policy, Whited posted a $100,000 performance bond for road and utility work in his project.

Whited's project is now in its fifth year. The bond for phase one, which has already been extended twice, will reach the cutoff date March 17.

Whited said in telephone interview that he will apply for a reduction in the bond and a third extension. He said many of the improvements have been done, but wet weather has delayed other road work.

Commissioners tabled Whited's permit request until the March 3 meeting, two weeks before the bond falls due.
