- THE SIXTH BIENNIAL JANUSZ KORCZAK Literary Competition, sponsored by the Braun Center for Holocaust Studies of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith (ADL) and the Polish Embassy, is accepting entries featuring recently published books for and about children. Korczak died with 200 orphans in his care rather than abandon them.

First-prize of $1,000 and a plaque will be awarded to authors of the best books in two categories: Fiction or non-fiction for readers at the elementary or secondary school level and books directed to parents and educators on the welfare and nurturing of children.

To be eligible, the books must have been published in English in 1990 or 1991. They may be on any topic, including but not limited to the Holocaust. Applicants should submit five copies of each entry to: The Janusz Korczak Literary Award Committee, Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, 823 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017. Deadline for entries is March 25. Awards will be presented in October.
