Karl J. Engar, 85, passed away February 24, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born April 10, 1906 in Rexburg, Idaho to Charles J. and Alveretta Staples Engar. Married Mildred Proctor May 7, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; she preceded him in death June 13, 1989. Graduated from the University of Utah and enjoyed a very successful career over 36 years teaching instrumental music in schools in Castlegate, Vernal, and Salt Lake City. Talented musician having played the clarinet and saxaphone throughout his life; a member of the Max Engeman Band for many years as well as other prominant dance bands. Active High Priest in the LDS Church. Served as a Stake Missionary, High Priest group leader, choir director, Aaronic Priesthood advisor, home teacher, and temple worker.He loved, and was loved by his family. He had no greater joy than when he and his family were together, any excuse being a good excuse to meet with each other.

Preceded in death by brothers, George Engar and Byron Engar, sisters, Louise Partridge and Norma Liston.

Survived by daughters, Mrs. William R. (Janet) Shaw and Mrs. Ivan T. (Nancy) Lines; sons, Charles P. Engar and wife, Kristie, and Rod P. Engar, and wife, Kim; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Engar; sister, Anna Laura Summerhays.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 27, 1992, 12 Noon, in the Mount Olympus 4th Ward, 3862 East Oakview Drive (4275 South), Holladay. Friends may call at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the ward 10:45-11:45 a.m.

Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
