To the editor:
I have been following with interest all of the letters regarding the parking stalls designated for people with disabilities.Recently, while trying to find a parking spot at a strip mall in Bountiful, I ended up parking in one store's designated parking stall because it was the only one available. I went into that store and asked for permission to park in their stall for a few minutes while I picked up something at another store located in the same mall.
The salesperson said that the parking stall was reserved for their customers only and suggested that I park in the "handicapped stall" instead.
I was appalled at this salesperson's disregard for the rights of those with disabilities. I believe that something needs to be done to increase public awareness so that the rights of those with disabilities are not violated.
