Today at the young age of 39 I left this mortal existence to a holier sphere.
I was born at an early age on January 29, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah to wonderful parents, Gordon N. Smith and Joanne (DeHann) Smith, who taught me to live life well. Our family lived in Burley, Idaho for a while and then moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah and there I attended Cottonwood High School. I married Russ Keith Hill January 7, 1977 (7-7-77) in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. We have three sweet children who I will miss greatly. We lived in Salt Lake City most of our married life then moved to Portland, Oregon where we have resided for the last two years.At the young age of 29, I was introduced to something called cancer. Cancer was my great adversary but I have learned that in this life our enemies can become our choicest friends, the secret is in learning what to do with the conflict.
With deepest sadness I leave behind the most wonderful, loving, supporting husband in the world, Russ Keith, and three of the Lord's choicest spirits; Spencer K., 13, Emily J., 11, and Jacob T., 8, of Portland, Oregon. I also wish to thank the following for their constant faith and prayers in my behalf: My parents, Gordon N. Smith and Joanne (Dehaan) Smith; my brothers, David J. Smith (Elizabeth), Paul N. Smith (Diane), Andrew G. Smith (Marilee), all of Salt Lake City; Elder Timothy F. Smith, now serving an LDS Mission in the Dominican Republic; also my sisters, Jodee Gerber (Cary), West Jordan; Lori Pantuso (Steve) and Suzanne Smith, both of Salt Lake City; grandmothers, Lydia Smith, Bethesda, Maryland and Afton Dehaan, Salt Lake City; my mother-in-law, Fern E. Hill and sisters-in-law, Terry Johnson (Steve), and Susan Richins (Stan), all of Salt Lake City; as well as 28 nieces and nephews.
Donations could be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Life Centered Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 1992 at 11 a.m. at the South Cottonwood 5th Ward building, 6350 So. Rodeo Lane (1545 East), with viewing two hours prior to the services as well as from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 1992 at Memorial Estates Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 So. Services were also held in Portland, Oregon, Feb. 6, 1992.
