When WordPerfect Publishing Corporation designed its upcoming magazine for young computer users, it enlisted the help from some of the same fifth- through ninth-graders who will be reading the publication.

What emerged was WordPerfect for Kids - two special issues scheduled for publication this August and November. The introductory issues will feature fun ways youth can learn and apply new computer skills to help them with school projects, homework and future career opportunities.

WordPerfect For Kids will show how computers run, how laser printers work, and will explain other electronic "mysteries." The first issue will include contests, word games, puzzles, cartoons, a computer terms column and macros (keyboard shortcuts) to make and decipher secret codes. It will also feature profiles of young computer users and artistic fold-out posters.

WordPerfect For Kids is actively soliciting computer tips, discoveries and story ideas from young computer users in any grade as well as from adults who write for children. Contributions should focus on the use of WordPerfect and compatible software and hardware in the schools and at home.
