A Utah native, Sandoval had served eight months of a five-year-to-life sentence for multiple aggravated robberies before he escaped from the Utah State Prison in Bluffdale on May 18, 1981.
Sandoval is trained in martial arts and is known to frequent nightclubs. He has used a handgun and knife to commit robberies, and is considered armed and dangerous.
