Soprano Deborah Voigt has won the 1992 Richard Tucker Award and its stipend of $30,000. The Tucker Foundation did not hold a formal competition this year but made its award on the basis of Voigt's promising career achievement and standing.

The 31-year-old singer performs with the Metropolitan Opera, has appeared in Verona and with the Boston Symphony, and will debut at La Scala in 1993 and with Lyric Opera of Chicago.She has won first prizes at the 1990 Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, the Verdi Competition in Busseto, Italy, and the Rosa Ponselle Competition.
