A West Valley teen was in serious condition Tuesday with head injuries and facial lacerations after the front wheel of his 10-speed bicycle came loose and he was thrown onto a road.

Joshua Tindall, 16, was riding near 6339 West and 3500 South about 2:55 p.m. Monday when he hit a bump and the front wheel fell off his bike, said police officer Richard Boddy. The frame of the bike hit the asphalt, and Tindall was thrown from the bike, Boddy said. The youth was flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center.
