"Basic Instinct" continues its 2-month-old run at or near the top of the box office charts.

The thriller starring Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone earned $4 million over the weekend for the No. 1 spot during a lackluster moviegoing week, Exhibitor Relations Co. reported. It has made $89.1 million to date.In second place was the basketball comedy "White Men Can't Jump," with $2.7 million.

Among the first-week flops were "Criss Cross" ($1 million), "Wild Orchid 2: Shades of Blue" ($323,288), "Big Girls Don't Cry, They Get Even" ($122,784), and "Poison Ivy" ($119,840). All failed to make the Top 10.

Among other recent releases, the Hollywood satire "The Player," moving into more theaters nationwide, was fourth. Fifth was Tom Selleck's "Folks," and seventh was "Split Second," an adventure story featuring Rutger Hauer.

Here are the estimated top ticket sales, according to Exhibitor Relations:

1. "Basic Instinct," $4 million ($89.1 million, eight weeks).

2. "White Men Can't Jump," $2.7 million ($62.2 million, seven weeks).

3. "Beethoven," $2.4 million ($38.2 million, six weeks).

4. "The Player," $2.2 million ($7.5 million, five weeks).

5. "Folks," $1.51 million ($4.3 million, two weeks).

6. "Wayne's World," $1.48 million ($110.6 million, 13 weeks).
