This city is shouting "Welkommmen" to the Scandinavian Festival Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23.

And the town, which revels in its heritage, has planned a variety of events for the two-day affair. It will open on May 22 with the Little Denmark supper - featuring chicken dumpling soup in the Snow College cafeteria, with service from 6 to 8 p.m. During the supper the festival royalty will be presented. The Slash C Rodeo will perform at the stampede ground north of town at 8 p.m.

A whole string of events - some daylong - will provide May 23 with a full agenda: the Scandinavian breakfast, the Bjorn Borg Tennis tournament, the Dala Hess family parade, the Ugly Trolls and Gnomes contest.

Old world crafts, food booths, historical tours, an arts show, historical displays, puppet shows, a quilt show and children's games will be available most of the day.

A Scandinavian favorite - a smorgasbord featuring edleskivers, pastries, meats, drinks - will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. by college food services.

During the residents will wear costumes, and there'll be music and dancing on Main Street.

The celebration will close with a second performance of the rodeo.
