Officials report the Marriott Center sold more than 32,000 tickets for Alan Osmond's Fourth of July fireworks spectacular, making it the highest-selling first day in the ticket office's history.
"We expected a busy day, but we were astounded by the response, said Larry Duffin, BYU's special events director. "We arranged for 75 people to help that day, and they had their hands full."The event, in its 12th year, will cap the July 4th holiday for America's Freedom Festival at Provo, and this year's centerpiece is the Beach Boys. The Osmonds (Second Generation) will perform as the night's opening act.
"Ticket sales have been steady Tuesday as well," Duffin said. "Although we still have many good tickets left, this is one year where people might be disappointed if they wait."
