Francis Ford Coppola, who made such films as the "Godfather" trilogy and "Apocalypse Now," has filed for bankruptcy protection for the second time in three years.

The 1982 box-office flop "One From the Heart" forced the filing Tuesday under Chapter 11 of the federal Bankruptcy Code.Papers were filed for Coppola, his wife, Eleanor, and two of his production companies in the Northern District of California, San Francisco division.

"This bankruptcy filing closes the book on a complicated decade-long series of financial and legal problems arising from the making of `One From The Heart' in 1982," Coppola said in a statement.
