American Manning Galloway retained his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown Saturday in a unanimous 12-round decision over Englishman Pat Barrett.
Galloway, from Columbus, Ohio, successfully defended his title for the fifth time. He has not lost in five years.Barrett, fighting in front of a local crowd at Manchester's G-MEX Center, was never able to use his vaunted big punch as Galloway danced out of harm's way. Galloway finished the 12th round with a one-legged dance.
Judge Jose Salcedo, of the Dominican Republic, gave the decision to Galloway 119 points to 111, while Puerto Rico's Nelson Santiago and the United States' Harold Lederman both scored it 116 to 112.
