Zachery Eugene Peck, age 17, died July 28, 1992 in a construction accident.
He was born August 9, 1974 in Provo, Utah. He was a wonderful son, brother and friend and will be loved and missed always.An honor student the last four years, Zack graduated from Altamont High School this year. He was Sophomore Class President, Student Body Vice President, and elected Homecoming King in 1991. He was active in all sports with a special love for football. He was chosen for the All-State Football Team for two years, '90-91, and '91-92. He was also picked for the 1A-2A All-Star football game in Ephraim.
He played guard for the Altamont Basketball Team. He participated in track, running the 100 yard, 200 yard dash and the 400 meter relay. He was also a long-jumper, taking the 1A Championship in Provo this last spring. He was chosen as "Athlete of the Year" his senior year.
He received academic scholarships from Snow and Dixie colleges, but had decided to join the Army for the many benefits that it offered. He enlisted on the 24th of July and was scheduled to leave in October. His choice of training was the medical field as an X-Ray Technician. He was looking forward to this training as a stepping stone towards becoming a radiologist.
Zachery enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports. He had a great love for everyone and it showed in his helpfulness toward others. One comment was, "The only thing bigger than Zack's smile , was his heart."
Zachery is survived by his parents, Larry and Sharon Peck of Talmage, and Kathy Helmes of Yuma, Ariz.; brothers and sisters, Carrie, James, Molly, Meagan, Jessica, Trevor, Dazee, and Cole; grandparents, Dean and Lavee Cobbley, Orem; Leo and Beth Farnsworth, Talmage; Lois Johnson, Arizona; and Bert Helmes, Arizona. Preceding Zack in death are Grandpa Eugene Peck, and Grandpa Glen Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 1992, at 12:00 noon, in the Moon Lake Ward. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9:30 p.m. at the church, and on Monday, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Mountain Home Cemetery. Funeral directors, Hullinger Mortuary of Roosevelt.
Zack will be missed very much by all his family and friends.
