The special health concerns of women are getting priority attention from pharmaceutical manufacturers, reports the Arthritis Foundation.

According to the foundation, a survey by the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association disclosed that more than 250 medicines are in human clinical trials or awaiting approval by the Food and Drug Administration for diseases that primarily affect women or are among the top 10 causes of death in women.They include 37 medicines currently being tested for five specific types of arthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases - juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
