Philip Riley Bartholomew, age 62, former Payson resident, died August 22, 1992, in Sun City, Arizona, from emphysema.

Born April 5, 1930, Payson, Utah, the son of A. Owen and Patricia Riley Bartholomew. Graduated from Payson High School and received his BA degree in interior design and general art from Utah State University. He attended Chouinards School of Fine Arts in Los Angeles. Returned to Utah State University where he received his master's degree in fine arts. He achieved his Ph.D. in interior design, historical history and restoration from University of Missouri. He taught at the Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, for 21 years. Early in his career he was interior decorator and buyer for Dixon, Taylor, Russell, in Provo, Utah and Forsey's Furniture in Salt Lake City. Served as 1st lt. in U.S. Army, during Korea. He was an accomplished water color artist and professional photographer, and illustrated books for the Head Start Pre-School Program. He has been a member and past officer in the American Institute of Interior Design and the American Society of Interior Designers.Survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elayne Brown and her husband, Lee Del, Provo, Utah; Mrs. Marilyn Peery and husband, Bert, Hemet, California; brother, Robert Bartholomew and his wife, Sally, Driggs, Idaho; 14 nieces and nephews; 33 great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., Huff-Linde Funeral Home, 519 North Main St., Spanish Fork, where friends may call Wednesday evening, 6 to 8 and from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service.

Interment: Payson City Cemetery.
