The NAACP, once a positive force for our African-American countrymen, is now a laughable organization undermining the chances of black America to become a positive force in our country.
The fashionable thing for a black person in trouble is to cry racism, much like the boy who cried wolf. The word "racism" has lost its potency because of so many cases where the term is abused or misused, as in the Andrews case.Instead of letting blacks answer to the law for their crimes, the NAACP will unfailingly come to the aid of even the most vicious criminal and try to turn it into a racial issue.
By doing this, the NAACP loses all credibility as an educated and concerned group of people and can only be labeled by intellectuals as an ignorant organization not equipped mentally to address the issues of black America.
We need a new generation of black leaders, people who care about the future of our fellow countrymen. Let the false cries of racism die with the wind that gave them birth, and let African-Americans have a forceful voice in our nation because of the integrity of their hearts and not by virtue of their color.David Barrett
