Two fugitive Gambino brothers linked to imprisoned crime boss John Gotti were in custody Monday after being traced to a Fort Lauderdale hotel, the FBI said.
John Gambino, 52, and Joe Gambino, 46, had jumped a $5 million bond on federal drug and racketeering charges in New York City, said Andrew Duffin, head of the Miami FBI.The two, cousins of the late crime boss Carlo Gambino, were taken into custody Sunday in a raid at the South Haven Hotel-Apartments in Fort Lauderdale.
Joe Gambino is an alleged "capo," or head, in the Gambino family, said Duffin. Both brothers were taped talking with Gotti during the investigation that led to the so-called Dapper Don's racket-eering-murder conviction.
