Our testing panel tried out Aquafresh's new Sensitive toothpaste. Aquafresh says this fluoride toothpaste relieves the pain of sensitive teeth and prevents cavities. We tested the 1.3-ounce 59-cent trial size.

Don Russell: "Fortunately, no member of our household has sensitive teeth. This sensitive version of Aquafresh has a light texture and seems very nonabrasive. It has the basic flavor of traditional Aquafresh and seemed to clean our teeth fine; however, for obvious reasons we probably won't become regular users. I noticed the manufacturer doesn't recommend this toothpaste for those under 12 years old."Nihla Lake: "My husband has sensitive teeth and receding gums so I let him be the guinea pig. He said the toothpaste had a nice flavor and made the teeth noticeably less sensitive. Good product!"

Judy Slack Wilson: "I really wouldn't say this did anything for sensitive teeth, but it has a mild, pleasant taste and the texture isn't quite as stiff as most toothpastes. It doesn't fall off your toothbrush as easily."

Edyth Jensen: "I've used a `sensitive' toothpaste before. I like the Aquafresh - its fresh flavor and consistency. It isn't like a specialized item, more like regular toothpaste. And, it does work."

Linda C. Tingey: "I couldn't tell any difference. My 18-year-old son can't eat chocolate, it makes his teeth ache. He brushed his teeth with Aquafresh for three days and said it made his teeth ache. Guess we won't be buying it again."

Rich Firmage: "I don't have real sensitive teeth so my wife tried the Aquafresh sensitive toothpaste. She said that it was great! It was especially good around the base of her crowns. If you have sensitive teeth, this is for you."

Conclusion: Enough of our testers with sensitive teeth found this a help that we think you ought to give it a try. It just might help.
