Orson W. Peterson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor died suddenly, January 16, 1993 at Bountiful, Utah.
Born on August 3, 1913 in Castle Dale, Utah, Emery County, a son of William and Luella Minerva Larsen Peterson. He served his fellow beings in a lifetime of love and service. He was a prominent educator starting his career as a music teacher, then a principal, and then superintendent of the Emery County School District for many years. In this capacity he unified an educational future for the county and it's people. He was a state leader serving as president of the Utah Society of School Superintendents and president of the Utah Activities Association. He also served as mayor of Castle Dale, president of the Castle Dale Lions Club, choir director, member of the Swanee Singers and held church positions in his High Priest Quorum. He dearly loved his family, the outdoors, sports, traveling and gardening. His loved ones give thanks for his wonderful, influential life.He will be greatly missed by his wife, Barbara Reid, of 57 years; three daughters and their husbands, Carolyn Luke and Joe, Bountiful; Judith Olson and Parry, Ephraim; Janet Willey and Jerry, Centerville; 15 grandchildren, one a missionary in Washington; six great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, three halfsisters, a halfbrother and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 1993, at 1 p.m., Centerville Parrish Canyon Ward, 610 N. Rowland Way. Friends may call Tuesday evening, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Wednesday morning, and at the church 11:30-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery.
