Atong Bol, wife of 76ers center Manute Bol, won $486,000 Sunday night at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City while playing progressive slots, several sources have confirmed.
She was playing two $5 tokens in a High Rollers machine when she hit the jackpot. And you thought the Bol family had used up its supply of luck when Manute tossed in his first three-point basket in three seasons in Friday's 109-91 loss to the New York Knicks at the Spectrum.
The Bols were unavailable for comment, but Frank Catapano, Manute's agent, noted that the 7-7 native of the Sudan has contributed "sizable portions" of his NBA salary to famine relief in his homeland over the last seven or eight years.
"Knowing Manute and his wife, it wouldn't surprise me if a good bit of (the winnings) is earmarked for a similar purpose," Catapano said.
Bol is earning $1.65 million from the Sixers this season.
