With a little extra money in the household, Manute Bol must have thought the cost of throwing a punch to make a point wouldn't be too high.

Bol, whose wife won $486,000 at an Atlantic City casino slot machine Monday, was ejected late in the first quarter of the Philadelphia 76ers' 98-90 loss Tuesday night to the New York Knicks.Bol was ejected with 22 seconds left in the quarter for throwing a punch at Anthony Mason. The 6-7 Knicks forward had rebounded a miss by Ewing and gone back up strong against the 7-7 Bol. After Mason hit the slam, making it 23-22 Philadelphia, he and Bol made contact. Bol pushed Mason away, Mason said something and Bol went after him, throwing a punch that Mason easily ducked.

"I had him way ahead (on points)," Sixers Coach Doug Moe said of his center. "He dazzled him with a nice left jab. It missed but it got his attention."

Without Bol's shot-blocking presence in the middle, the Knicks took advantage of the undermanned Sixers to build a 14-point lead in the third quarter and hung on for their fourth straight victory.

Charles Oakley scored 8 of his season-high 12 points in the first five minutes of the quarter, leading the Knicks' 17-6 run that gave them a 67-53 lead with 5:39 to go in the third.

Jeff Hornacek scored 25 points and Hersey Hawkins finished with 23 for the Sixers.

Trail Blazers 143, Warriors 133

At Portland, Ore., Clyde Drexler scored 31 points and Cliff Robinson added 26 to lead the Trail Blazers to their sixth straight win. Portland, which has won 11 of its last 13 overall, has also won six straight at home. Chris Mullin had 31 points for the Warriors, who lost for the seventh time in their last eight games.

Bulls 123, Mavericks 88

At Dallas, Scottie Pippen scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists to propel the Bulls. The Bulls built a 33-15 first-quarter leadr and held a 64-37 halftime advantage.

Nets 106, Lakers 91

At East Rutherford, N.J., Kenny Anderson scored 20 of his 28 points in the second half to give Nets Coach Chuck Daly his 500th career victory. Daly became the 15th coach in league history to reach the plateau and New Jersey won for the seventh time in nine games.

Bucks 100, Rockets 86

At Milwaukee, Blue Edwards scored 24 points, helping the Bucks snap their home losing streak at five games. Eric Murdock scored 18 points and dished out 16 assists for Milwaukee. Hakeem Olajuwon scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots for the Rockets.

Magic 120, Hawks 106

At Orlando, Fla., Shaquille O'Neal scored 27 points and Tom Tolbert added 24 points and 16 rebounds to power the Magic. Dominique Wilkins led the Hawks with 27 points and Kevin Willis had 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Bullets 104, Heat 102

At Landover, Md., Michael Adams hit a driving layup with 1.7 seconds left in overtime to lift the Bullets. Adams, who finished with 23 points, took an inbounds pass from Harvey Grant with 5.7 seconds left, drove the lane, and hit the winning shot with to snap the Bullets' skid at five games. Glen Rice scored 26 points and Steve Smith added 23 for Miami.
