No one in Richard Wagstaff's family had ever delivered a newspaper.
But when the 12-year-old was looking for a way to make some extra money, the idea came to him.Richard started delivering the Deseret News last June. "I use the money to buy CDs and books." Richard listens to all kinds of music "except classical and rap." He loves Stephen king books.
While some may believe that newspaper routes eat up a lot of time, not so for Richard.
"I deliver 38 papers. I ride in the back of my dad's truck on the route. Not counting the time it takes to fold them (or stuff them in plastic bags on wet days), it only takes me 15 minutes on the route," says Richard.
"I thought it would be fun to have a route and a good way to make some money. But I haven't gone through a winter yet."
What's the toughest part of delivering the Deseret News?
"Sunday morning." Big papers and early delivery times.
