EDO Corp.'s Salt Lake facility will handle assembly and testing of spare bomb release units for F-15 fighter jets under a $7.2 million "follow-on" contract awarded to the company Tuesday.

The units will be manufactured at EDO's facility in College Point, N.Y.Ira Kaplan, vice president and general manager of EDO's Government Systems Division, said, "The contract will keep the F-15E Bomb Release Unit production line open and support continued employment of related trained personnel for a minimum of 2 1/2 years."

The bomb unit was used during the Persian Gulf War.
