A 1,200-pound statue of the Angel Moroni is placed atop the Bountiful Utah Temple Monday. Placement of the glass fiber-reinforced plastic statue, which is about 13 feet high and emblazoned with gold leafing, is another step toward finishing the structure, now about 60 percent complete. An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 people lined streets and climbed foothills to watch the operation. Located at 640 S. Bountiful Blvd., the temple should be completed during fall 1994, said Jerry Sears, project manager of the church's temples and special projects division. The temple is one of several under construction or being planned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
