Three members of the First Quorum of the Seventy were given emeritus status Saturday during the morning session of the semiannual conference.

In addition, three new members were sustained to the presidency of the Quorums of the Seventy, and Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone of the Seventy was called as second counselor in the Young Men's general presidency.Elders Adney Y. Komatsu, Jacob de Jager and H. Burke Peterson received emeritus status.

New presidents of the Seventy are Elders Joe J. Christensen, Monte J. Brough and W. Eugene Hansen. They replace Elders Dean L. Larsen, James M. Paramore and J. Richard Clarke, each of whom is serving in an area presidency.

Elder Featherstone succeeds Elder L. Lionel Kendrick, who is serving as president of the Dallas Temple.

The changes in the presidency of the Seventy and Young Men were announced in June.

Elder Komatsu, 70, was called to be an assistant to the Twelve in April 1975, and to the First Quorum of the Seventy in October 1976. A former senior vice president of a savings and loan institution in Hawaii, Elder Komatsu has served in several area presidencies and has been a regional representative, branch president, bishop and temple president.

Elder de Jager, 70, was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in April 1976 and has served in several area presidencies, as a regional representative and mission president's counselor. He is a former vice president of a European-based electronics firm.

Elder Peterson, 70, was called as first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric in April 1972. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy in April 1985 and has served in several area presidencies, as a temple president, regional representative and stake president. He is a former partner in an engineering company and a consulting engineer.

Elder Christensen, 64, has served in the First Quorum of the Seventy since April 1989. He is the former president of Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Elder Brough, 54, has been a member of the Seventy since October 1988, while Elder Hansen was called to the Seventy in April 1989.

Elder Featherstone, 62, who has served as general president of Young Men, was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1971.
