Col. Rodney Layton Dickson (Retired), 64, of Sierra Vista, Arizona died Sunday, October 3, 1993 at his home.
Rodney was born September 11, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Frankie Josephine Layton and Elbern Dickson. He was a graduate of Davis High School and Utah State University (1956). He retired from the US Army February 1, 1987 after 35 years of service. His assignments included tours at NATO, Brussels, Belgium, CINCEUR, Stuttgard Germany, CINCPAC, Honolulu, Hawaii, and also Viet Nam and Korea. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, and Joint Services Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence at the US Army Information Systems Commant, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.He is survived by his wife, Ann S. of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two sons, Kevin of Richmond, Virginia; John (Lynette) and daughter, Susan, of Kaysville, Utah; a sister, Josephine (Joseph M.) Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah; and a brother, Franklin D. (Vicky) of Logan, Utah. He is also survived by three grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 1993 at the Main Post Chapel, Ft. Huachuca with Bishop Gary Haymore and Rev. Gregory Adolf officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 5, 1993 at Hatfield's Mortuary from 4:30-6 p.m. Interment will follow services in the Ft. Huachuca Cemetery.
