Van Terry Bell, Layton, has been elected to the board of directors of the Lupus Foundation of America Inc., the world's largest voluntary organization dedicated to sponsoring professional and public education programs on lupus and lupus research.

Bell, who is retired from the Department of Defense, has served the LFA extensively at both the local and national levels.Systemic lupus erythematosus, better known as lupus or SLE, is an autoimmune disease that strikes more than 500,000 Americans, primarily women. There is no known cause or cure for the disease, but it can be treated and controlled.
