A grand jury has voted to indict rapper Tupac Shakur on sodomy, sex abuse and weapons charges for allegedly participating in a gang rape of a woman inside his posh hotel room, it was announced during a court hearing Wednesday.
Shakur and two friends staying at his suite at the Parker Meridien Hotel the night of the incident were charged with first-degree sodomy, attempted sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. In addition, both the rapper and one of the other defendants, 23-year-old Charles Fuller, face undisclosed weapons charges.A fourth man allegedly in the hotel room at the same time last week was being sought.
Shakur, 22, stood impassively by his lawyer in Manhattan Criminal Court as the charges were read.
The attorney also disclosed that police had confiscated a bulletproof vest and a cellular phone belonging to Shakur and asked that they be returned to him.
