Michael Jackson has returned to the United States and is cooperating with authorities investigating child molestation claims, his lawyer told USA Today.
The newspaper quoted attorney Johnnie Cochran Jr. as confirming the singer was back after halting his world tour and seeking drug-addiction treatment overseas.Cochran declined to give details, but there were reports Jackson was in California after arriving by private jet in nearby Santa Barbara.
The New York Post quoted a U.S. Customs spokeswoman as saying Jackson cleared customs Friday afternoon in Billings, Mont., site of the smallest international airport in the country.
"There was nothing unusual about the flight," Customs spokeswoman Cherise Miles said.
Jackson's lawyers said last week that they were negotiating with authorities on the terms of Jackson's return.
