For Hakeem (the Dream) Olajuwon, the question of participation in the 1996 Summer Olympics has become something of a nightmare.

Officials of the International Basketball Federation have said that Olajuwon is not eligible to play for the United States in the Atlanta Summer Games because he participated as a 17-year-old on the Nigerian junior national team in 1980 in a tournament in Africa.
