Noted Salt Lake advertising executive Robert Fred Rohlfing, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 5, following a battle with cancer.

A past president of the Salt Lake Advertising Club, Rohlfing was employed by Gillham Advertising Inc. for 32 years - serving as vice president and later senior vice president until illness forced him to retire in 1978.Rohlfing graduated from the University of Utah School of Business in 1941 with a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in marketing. Prior to joining Gillham Advertising, he was employed by KSL Radio as a copywriter. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army for three years as a chief clerk of the Ninth Service Command's Security and Intelligence Division and as a master sergeant in the Army's Security-Intelligence Corps.

A talented pianist, Rohlfing was past director of the Salt Lake Junior Chamber of Commerce, past president of the University of Utah Class of 1941 alumni and former vice president of the Utah Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Alumni. He was active in the LDS Church, holding numerous positions.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, Dec. 10, at the Parleys 3rd Ward chapel, 2615 E. Stringham Ave. (2280 South). Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 South, or at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel before the services Friday. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
