Defending champion Fred Couples and 24 other former champions are among 99 golfers invited to play in the 1993 Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club April 8-11.
U.S. Open champion Tom Kite, who ended a 16-month victory drought by winning the Atlanta Classic five weeks before his Open title, returns to the Masters after missing last year's tournament.The U.S. newcomers include Tour players Mark Carnevale, Fred Funk, Tom Lehman, Jeff Maggert and Duffy Waldorf, plus 1992 U.S. Amateur champion Justin Leonard.
Stephen Dundas of Scotland, winner of last year's British Amateur, is among the first-time international challengers. The others are Anders Forsbrand of Sweden, Tony Johnstone of Zimbabwe, Brett Ogle of Australia, Richard Zokol of Canada and amateur Warren Schutte of South Africa.
Former champs Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player will also play.
