Ivana Trump wants to gild her new townhouse in New York, but neighbors in the historic district don't like the idea.
Donald Trump's former wife has applied to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for permission to have the home's frieze and parts of its columns covered with $6,900 worth of gold leaf, New York magazine reported. The Preservation Committee of the Friends of the Upper East Side Historic District called the plans inappropriate.
"It's an exquisite limestone building, and it was not meant to be gold-leafed," said Joyce Matz, a member of the committee. "If she must gold-leaf, perhaps she will consider sticking to the interior of the building."
