Actor Skip Young, best known as the chubby and chirpy Wally in the television series "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," died following a lengthy illness, a spokesman said. He was 63.

The spokesman said Thursday that Young was found dead Wednesday at a residence he shared with his daughter in the San Bernardino community of Apple Valley, 90 miles east of Los Angeles.Young, whose death was due to natural causes, had a history of heart disease and diabetes.

Young's real name was Ronald Plumstead. He was born March 14, 1930, in San Francisco and made his first show business appearance at age 4, appearing with comedian Bert Lahr in a two-reeler movie called, "No More West."

In 1954, Young got the part on the television program starring Ozzie Nelson and stayed with the show through 10 seasons and more than 200 shows before the series ended in 1966.
