President Clinton's overall approval rating is lower than that of his two predecessors at the same point in their tenure, but Americans still strongly support his economic plan.
Clinton's overall approval rating is 60 percent in a Washington Post-ABC News poll, compared with 76 percent for President Bush after his first month in office and 68 percent for President Reagan after his initial month.The survey found that 58 percent approve of Clinton's handling of the economy and 63 percent approve of his approach to foreign affairs.
Sixty-one percent see Clinton as a "new-style Democrat who will be careful with the public's money," compared with 35 percent who called him an "old style, tax-and-spend Democrat."
