The founder of Wendy's restaurants says learning is important, no matter how long it takes to get a diploma.
Dave Thomas received his high school equivalency diploma Thursday at Coconut Creek High School in the Florida burg of Coconut Creek, northwest of Fort Lauderdale.Thomas, 60, said he dropped out of high school at age 15 but always regretted the decision. At age 36 he founded Wendy's, which was named for his daughter.
Thomas, familiar to TV viewers from his commercials for his fast-food chain, said he decided while on a cross-country tour to promote his autobiography that he wanted to get his diploma. He said his years in business helped him pass the seven-hour exam.
"Even with everything that's happened in my life, getting this diploma is one of my most important accomplishments," Thomas said.
