The most dangerous political doctrine today is the popular philosophy that government exists to furnish and secure rights. We now face the opposite direction of the Founding Fathers as we look to government to provide rather than protect.

There is an urgent need today for parents to teach their children the principles of freedom. One of those principles is that a centralized government will undermine initiative and destroy a free economy to the extent that it taxes, regulates and controls private property.The public appears to be in a love affair with those factions who promise everything from child care to Medicare and from job security to old age security.

Over the past 60 years, elected officials have implemented scheming plans that have provided such guarantees through higher taxes and the increasing control of private enterprise.

As legislation and bureaucratic agencies mandate and dictate policies to the business world, industry is destroyed and companies are drained financially through taxes and worker compensation programs.

Our standard of living and the profit motive are intricately tied together. Without monetary motivation, the legendary American success story would never exist and neither would millions of jobs for millions of Americans.

When the profit motive is crushed within a nation, the economy collapses and it stands vulnerable to domination by any force capable of securing a sense of stability.

The freedom to pursue financial security free of government interference was paid for in blood during the American Revolution. We must teach our children to value that privilege and protect it. Rather than giving empty promises of security, we must teach them principles by which they can remain free.
