A man tries to pull a victim from a burning car that was set afire by a car bomb Thursday in Bogota. The bombing at a shopping center left 11 people dead and prompted the government to extend the prison terms terrorists face. President Cesar Gaviria blamed fugitive druglord Pablo Escobar and his criminal organization for the blast, which injured more than 100 and heavily damaged 30 buildings at the Centro 93 shopping center near downtown Bogota. Some two dozen vehicles were set afire or ripped apart. Large pools of blood were visible inside stores and on sidewalks after the blast. Police estimated the bomb, which left a crater 12 feet across and more than three feet deep, was made of between 110 pounds and 220 pounds of dynamite.
