Melvin R. Dixon, M.D., died April 22, 1993, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born on October 22, 1925, in Provo, Utah, to Albert F. and Sena Rasmussen Dixon. He married Carol Larue Collard in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 14, 1947, and graduated from Brigham Young University and Boston University Medical School after serving overseas in World War II.Mel was a caring physician who practiced obstetrics and gynecology at LDS Hospital for 30 years. His love of medicine was exceeded only by his love of family and the joy in time spent with them at their summer cabin. He was a member of the High Priests Quorum of Monument Park 16th Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; six children and their spouses, Linda and Francesco Mariotti, Susan and Phil Clinger, Debbie Dixon and Tom Walker, David and Nancy Dixon, Amy Dixon, and Emily Dixon; eleven grandchildren; and his sister and her spouse, Mildred and Colin Tangren, San Leandro, California.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 26, 1993, 12 noon, at the Monument Park 16th Ward, 1320 South Wasatch Drive. Friends and family may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services.
